Flight Framework: Alberta's Early Learning Approach in Edmonton
The Centre for Early Learning and Development approach to early learning and care is guided by Flight, Alberta's official curriculum framework for children ages 0 to before 6.
Developed to support early childhood educators across the province, Flight puts play at the centre of how children learn, grow, and make sense of the world.
Located within Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in central Edmonton, our program also benefits from a close, collaborative relationship with the school's own educators, giving your child an early, gentle connection to the wider school community they may one day join.
What Is the Flight Framework?
Flight is a play-based curriculum framework that shapes how we plan, reflect, and engage with children in our care. Rather than a rigid checklist, it's a flexible guide built around four goals:
